Bathinda Member Parliament Mrs. Harsimrat Kaur Badal today accused the Congress led UPA Government for sticking to its ‘post independence anti-Punjab resolve’ by shifting ‘Cashless Treatment of Road Accident Victims Scheme’, a pilot project, from Punjab to Rajasthan and said that this discriminatory act of Congress led UPA Government has again exposed its anti-Punjab face. In a sharp reaction over the shifting of this scheme to Rajasthan, Mrs. Badal said that this decision of Congress led UPA Government was shocking that earlier it had chosen Punjab for country’s first-ever cashless treatment scheme for road accident victims but shifted to other state without any consultation. Mrs. Badal said that Union Surface Transport Ministry had also given its nod for the launch of project on the ‘Amritsar-Pathankot National Highway’ (NH-15) and the Ministry had also taken a final meeting in this regard at Amritsar last year.
Lashing out at Congress Party for sabotaging the interests of Punjab, Mrs. Badal described this shifting as a political gambit of Union Government in view of ensuing Vidhan Sabha elections in Rajasthan. She said that in coming Vidhan Sabha elections in various states and in General Election countrymen will show the door to the Congress Party. She said that the SAD MPs would rake up this anti-Punjab decision in the coming Monsoon Session exposing the anti-Punjab strategies of Congress Party on the floor of the house.
Revealing the facts that Punjab having highest road accident mortality rate in the country, the Member Parliament said that Punjab has lost more than 4500 lives in over 6400 accident cases in 2012 across the state. She said that whereas Punjab has touched an alarming around 80% mortality in road accidents, the Rajasthan had its half. She said that despite holding survey on the sensitive road route on Amritsar-Pathankot National Highways and alarming figures of road accident fatality in Punjab, the Union Government deliberately impose embargo on Punjab and shifted the scheme to Congress ruling Rajasthan.The Member Parliament also said that it was the old practice of Congress Party to launch such programs in states on the edge of witnessing Vidhan Sabha elections but well informed electorates of the country would prove such vote gambits totally futile. She said that Congress Party should be ready to face its complete decimation in the ensuing General Elections.
Challenging PPCC President Mr. Partap Singh Bajawa to put pressure on his party high command in this regard, Mrs. Badal said that if Mr. Bajwa was actually concerned about the people and interests of Punjab, he should bring back the scheme to the state otherwise he should avoid misguiding people of Punjab during his ongoing ‘Mass Contact Program’ by presenting ‘self created’ ‘constructive’ image of Congress led UPA Government. She said that Bajwa should not conceal the fact that Congress led UPA-II was the most corrupt government in the world as it has given birth to multi thousand crore scams, which have broken all the records of corruption.
