Conceding the long pending demand of the Nambardars, the Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today announced to enhance the monthly honorarium of Nambardars from Rs. 1000 to Rs. 1500 from January 01, 2015.A decision to this effect was taken by Mr. Badal in a meeting with the delegation of Punjab Nambardars' Union led by its President Mr. Gurpal Singh Samra here at Punjab Bhawan this evening.Responding to another demand regarding the release of their arrears on account of their outstanding honorarium, the Chief Minister asked the Financial Commissioner Revenue to ensure its clearance positively by December 31, 2014.

The Chief Minister also asked the Revenue Department to issue guidelines to all the Deputy Commissioners for giving due representation to the District President of Nambardars' Union in the Grievances Committees and other forums related to the citizen centric services at the district level. Mr. Badal also gave nod to extend the facility of allowing Nambardars to go abroad for a year instead of six months and also authorized them to appoint their Sarbrahs(representatives) in their place to enable them to discharge their duties during the period of absence.The Chief Minister also assured the delegation that their other demands would be looked into sympathetically by the Revenue Department.The delegation thanked the Chief Minister for positive outcome of their demands and assured him that  they would leave no stone unturned in discharging their duties diligently in the public interest.

Prominent amongst who attended the meeting included FCR Mr. NS Kang, Principal Secretary to CM Mr. SK Sandhu, Secretary Expenditure Mr. Jaspal Singh, Secretary Grievances Mr. Mandeep Singh Sidhu, Special Principal Secretary to CM Mr. Ajoy Sharma and Special Secretary Revenue Mr. SS Khara.
