Punjab Instructs Drug Inspectors To Keep Strict Vigil On Sale Of Banned Drugs

The Punjab Health Department has restructured and strengthened drug de-addiction cell of the department besides rationalizing the human resource requirement of each district as per requirement at ground level. The Health Department has issued instructions to all Drug Inspector to intensify checking of drug retailers and chemists to check the sale of banned drugs.Disclosing this here today Vini Mahajan Principal Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department said that Health Department is leaving no stone unturned in the ongoing Punjab Government’s campaign to eradicate drug menace from the society. She said that in this ongoing campaign government is providing all needed help to the drug users to get rid of this menace by providing them medical and psychological treatment at the drug de-addiction centres and on the other hand Health Department has launched a campaign to make such a system that no person would be able to get any sort of drugs/medicines from the Medical stores without the prescription of the competent authority.

Mrs. Vini Mahajan, Principal Secretary, Health & Family Welfare informed that drug inspectors have been instructed to regularly inspect medical stores to curb malpractices and send reports on daily basis to the head quarters.She added that the Government has also transferred some drug inspectors as per requirements is the district to strengthen the checking system to stop the sale of banned drugs.

As per transfer orders issued, Mr. Vinay Jindal have been posted at Patiala-1, Mr. Lajvinder Kumar at Ludhiana-3, Mr. Karamjeet Singh posted at Gurdaspur-2, Mr. Gurpinder Kaur Bhambr posted at Ludhiana-4, Mr. Janak Raj given additional charge of Pathankot, Mr. Gurpreet Singh Sodhi posted at district Fategarh Sahib & additional charge kharar (Mohali SAS Nagar-3) and Punjab Health system corporation, Kharar under Special Session Quality Control Cell, Mohali and Ramandeep Gupta have been given additional charge of  Fazillka additional charge.
