The Punjab government today approved an ambitious four phased programme to modernize all the villages.Disclosing this here today, Rural Development and Panchayat Minister Sikander Singh Maluka said,“Punjab villages are to be developed as model villages and prominence is to provide basic services to village people”.Giving the details of four phased programme, Maluka said that it would include renovation of ponds, treatment of contaminated water, up gradation of streets, installation of RO System for drinking water and laying down of parks in villages. In first stage renovation of ponds and treatment of contaminated water to be done so that dairy animals could get clean water for drinking. Fencing of ponds is also part of this plan, he added. In second stage, parks would be laid down in villages and in third stage installing of RO system and up gradation of streets would be done.
