Tewari asks NDA govt to go beyond lip services towards Indian hostages in Iraq

Senior Congress leader and former union minister Manish Tewari today asked the BJP led National Democratic Alliance government at the centre to seriously pursue the release and evacuation of the Indians stuck in trouble torn Iraq and those held hostage by the insurgents there.Expressing grave concern over the safety of those stranded and abducted in Iraq, Tewari in a statement issued here today said, so far the central government had virtually done nothing except the lip services. “This is not going to get those stuck there released and evacuated”, he said, while asking the government to spell out a time bound plan as how and when those stuck in Iraq were to be evacuated.The former minister said, there was lot of anguish and concern among the relatives of those stuck there and they had not been provided with any information so far. “Other than the ritual press conference and media releases, the government has not done anything serious, sincere or substantial that would restore the confidence of their relatives here”, he said.
