To develop the cities of the state as waste-free, the Punjab Government has pided all its Municipalities into 8 clusters under its Solid Waste Management Project. pulging other details, Anil Joshi, Minister for Local Bodies said that under the project, there would be 100 per cent door-to-door collection of solid waste, from which electricity, fuel and manure/fertilizer would be produced.He said that this project would be completed in phase manner and in present Jalandher cluster plant is being developed. This plant will cater to 27 municipalities under its jurisdiction. He further said that besides developing cities waste free by scientifically destroying waste, this plant would provide employment to youth also.Joshi instructed the officers of the department to sensitize the people of the area about the benefits of the project so that the mission of clean cities would be completed with their cooperation.
