Vidhan Sabha Speaker B.B.L. Butail called on Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh at 7 RCR New Delhi and requested him to provide liberal financial assistance to the State Government for taking massive rehabilitation and reconstruction works in flood ravaged areas of the State. He told Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh that extensive damages have been experienced in the flood affected areas of the State and said that heavy loss of life and property had been reported from various parts of the State. He said that State had done commendable work in providing timely relief and rescue works in the affected areas as result of which normal life was restored in all the affected areas in time bound manner and further loss of life and property was averted.

Shri Butail requested the Prime Minister to sanction the Rs. 1000 crore Central assistance immediately to the State Government and projects under centrally sponsored schemes to bring complete normalcy in the region and to start development projects in the area. He said that development process in the State had been derailed to one year due to flash floods and the tourist season had also been badly affected as the floods occurred when the tourism season was at peak in the entire State. He said that tourism industry had also been badly affected due to flash floods and its impact has been felt on entire tourism industry in the State. He demanded special incentives for Tourism Industry for infrastructure etc so as to compensate the losses due to flash floods.
