The on the spot grievances redressal forum initiated by Deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today witnessed hundreds of people from across Punjab flocking to the SAD office here to get their pending issues settled immediately.As many as 527 grievances were settled on the occasion with the Deputy CM giving a more than four hour long patient hearing to the petitioners and forwarding their cases for immediate attention to senior civil and police officials including ADGP Law and Order Dinkar Gupta. Education minister Dr Daljit Singh Cheema, who was also present on the occasion, dealt with cases pertaining to the Education department on the spot. Most of the petitioners brought issues pertaining to the Revenue, Police, Power, Education, General Administration and NRIs affairs to the attention of the Deputy CM.Not only complainants but some of the people were also present on occasion to extend their gratitude to Deputy CM for providing them justice. An octogenarian Mr. Bachittar Singh of Hasanpur village in Mohali district brought homemade ‘jaggery’ for Deputy CM. Few others brought momentos and photographs. Mr Badal while interacting with the petitioners said in case they still did not get justice due to any reason they were free to come again. “I want to boost the morale of the common man and ensure any extraneous reasons do not come in the way of delivering justice to him”, he said on the occasion.
The Deputy CM said officers in districts and at headquarters would be held accountable if they failed to deliver justice by resolving pending issues and no pendency of public complaints would be tolerated. He also asked the people to given him feedback in the interest of general administration.On the complaint of a group of Sarpanches from Fazilka district, Mr. Badal ordered an enquiry against a BDPO and APO and asked the authorities concerned to submit their report within two days. He also directed that no one would be spared in case of any kind of harassment to common masses. He also directed officers to look into chronic flooding in Mahatampura in Fazilka district.Taking note of representation produced by Mr. Ravinder Singh Cheema, Chairman Arthiya Association Punjab, with an appeal of not to register FIR against any trader/arthiya in the state without holding a preliminary enquiry, Mr. Badal issued directions to the police heads to conduct a thorough probe before filing any FIR against traders in the cases of farmers suicide. Petitioners whose cases for compassionate appointments are still pending also represented to him.
The panchayat in Dalsinghwala village of Faridkot district complained that canal water was not reaching their village. There were some cases of encroachment of panchayat land also. Residents of Baretta urged that a underbridge be built in the town to ensure smooth flow of traffic at a railway crossing.There were few complaints against senior police officers also. The Deputy CM asked ADGP Law and Order Dinkar Gupta to take necessary action in this case besides providing security to the complainants. There was a complaint against the Truck Union of Bathinda by operators who claimed they were being charged for movement in the district without any reason. Mr Badal immediately directed the Bathinda SSP to take action in the matter.
