The Transport Minister, Punjab Ajit Singh Kohar today conducted surprise raid in the office of the District Transport Officer (DTO), Patiala. During checking, out of total 18 employees 15 including DTO and ADTO were found absent. Later on Kohar also checked the office of a company working in field of registration of vehicles and smart cards of the licences, where 4 employees were found absent and 4 were unable to show their identity cards. The Minister has asked the senior officers to seek written explanation of the absentees.

He said that the complaints regarding the absence of the officers/employees were pouring in, which necessitated the today’s surprise raid in DTO office Patiala. He said that the department would not tolerate any kind of laxity in the official work and punctuality and accountability of officers and employees would be strictly ensured.Kohar further issued strict advisory for the employees of the department to be present in the office from 9 am to 5 pm and discharge their duty with full dedication. He said that the surprise checking would also be continued in future.
