Appealing the Islamic Republic of Iran to play their role into the final settlement of the Kashmir dispute, chairman Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Geelani said that this dispute has become the major reason of disharmony, instability and uneasiness in the entire South Asian region and Iran also can’t escape its negative impacts.According to a statement issued, he said that for fulfilling its expansionist designs, India want to continue the illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir and even she want to establish its supremacy over the other countries of the region. To neutralize its dangerous designs, it is vital for the Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan to strengthen their brotherly relationship.
According to a statement issued, while praising their stand against the imperialistic forces of Iran in a meeting with the Iranian Envoy Ghulam Raza Hassan at his residence, Geelani said that ‘if I were having the travel documents then I will first of all prefer to visit the Iran and Pakistan and I will reveal the difficulties and miseries which the Kashmiri people are facing, to the Muslim brethren of both the countries and I will aware them about the grave human rights violations in Jammu & Kashmir.
The Iran envoy visited the residence of Geelani at 08:45 am and held a detailed meeting with him which lasts for an hour. While expressing his best wishes for the Geelani, Ghulam Raza Hassan said that Iran supports Kashmiris in the struggle for their birth rights and favours that this dispute should be resolved in according to the wishes of its people. While deliberating the guests about the history of Kashmir, Geelani said that according to the principles and conditions of partition, Kashmir was never and in no way any part of India. There were about 85% Muslim population in Jammu and Kashmir at that time and there were no geographical relations with India. With the Connivance of British, Indian and Dogra rulers and Kashmiri leadership, Kashmir was gifted to India in an unprincipled and unnatural way, which created the situation of political uncertainty and instability here. He said that India then itself took this dispute to the UNO where world community unanimously favoured the Right to Self Determination for the Kashmiri people and for the final settlement of this issue they recommended that plebiscites should be held in Jammu and Kashmir. India also accepted that the future of Kashmir can’t be decided without the consent of its people and Indian rulers promised on national and international levels that with the improvement of the situation, we will co-operate in holding the referendum in Kashmir and we will respect the verdict of the people.
The pro-freedom leader further said that India backtracked from its promises and now they want to hold the Kashmir by their military might. The people of Jammu and Kashmir are peacefully struggling for their rights and for suppressing this struggle, India is unlashing worst kind of atrocities upon them. While mentioning the grave human rights violations in Jammu & Kashmir at the hands of Indian army and other government forces, Geelani said to the Iran Envoy that during last 24 years, one lakh people have been killed, about ten thousand people have been subjected to the custodial disappearance and the same number of people have been killed in custody or fake encounters. About 7 thousand unmarked graves have been discovered and about them nobody knows that who have been dumped into them by the Indian army. Indian forces are using the rape as a weapon of war in Jammu & Kashmir and till now about 7 thousand women have been gang raped or molested by the cruel forces of India. While mentioning the role of the organization of the Muslim world OIC, Geelani said that Iran should itself play a role into the final settlement of Kashmir dispute and they should also support the Pakistan Government initiative on OIC platform for this cause.
While committing upon the bilateral talks of India and Pakistan, Hurriyat chairman said that Kashmir is not any border dispute between these two countries, which can be solved by these two parties. It is the issue of the future of 13 million people and it can’t be solved without addressing the wishes, aspirations and sacrifices of its people. India and Pakistan have held 150 rounds of talks till now but nether have Kashmir issue progressed an inch forward nor can is it possible in future.While highlighting the need of stronger and brotherly relation between Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan, the pro-freedom leader of Kashmir said that India want to establish his supremacy over the small nations of this region and the best solution to stop this dangerous design is that the above mentioned three Muslim countries should show unity and they should develop strong political, diplomatic and trade relations with each other, which will not only check the evil designs of India but it will also boost the Kashmir issue towards its final settlement.
