Leading cardiologist and director cardiology Dr RK Jaswal of Fortis Hospital Mohali was honored with the prestigious 2013 MIDI Management Excellence Award. Dr. S.S. Gill, Vice chancellor Baba Farid University of Health sciences along with Dr. Inderjit Singh, Registrar, Guru Nanak Dev University and Mohinder Bhagat Punjab’s BJP senior Leader conferred the award to Dr. Jaswal during a ceremony organized by Management & Industrial Development Institute (MIDI), at Jalandhar.A spokesperson of MIDI said Dr Jaswal, a renowned cardiologist in North India, had been chosen for his significant contributions made in the field of medical sciences. “The awardees are leading personalities from respective field and they demonstrate qualities of excellence and social responsibility,” he added. Dr Jaswal, who has over 20 years of experience in interventional cardiology, recently delivered a lecture on transradial Intervention at Shanghai in China. He has many research papers to his credit that have appeared in national and international journals. He has performed over 14,000 transradial invasive procedures.
Dr Jaswal said, “We always try and spread awareness among the people about ways of preventing heart disease. However, when there is no option but to carry out a procedure, we make sure patients receive the best possible treatment. It’s here that transradial interventions have completely changed the way of treatment. They are safer, promise better results and quicker recovery. However, these have to be performed by a highly experienced doctor.”He thanked MIDI for bestowing the award upon him. “These honors are great motivators to work even more for the betterment of healthcare,” Dr Jaswal said.
