Capt. J.M. Pathania, Deputy Commissioner, Kinnaur said that 13 sorties had been conducted for evacuating 301 persons from Sangla, Reckong Peo, Pooh, Nako and Gyabong to Rampur today and efforts were afoot to airlift the remaining about 400 persons as soon as possible.
He said that teams comprising of officers and officials of Revenue, Horticulture, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and other departments had been constituted at Sub pisional level to assess the loss caused due to natural disaster that struck the District. He said that these teams would visit affected areas to assess the loss at micro level.
He said that four teams in Pooh pision and similar teams in Kalpa and Nichar had been constituted and they had been asked to submit the report within two weeks so as to provide all possible assistance to the affected people adding that HAS officers had also been deputed in Sangla and Gyabong area to assist and monitor the relief and rescue operations.
Capt. Pathania said that NDRF jawans had been sent to Ropa Kanda area for carrying out rescue and rehabilitation of about 12 shepherds along with their herd. He said that the district administration had been taking care of the stranded people and there was no shortage of edible commodities. Besides, the work of restoration of roads was being done on war footing. Efforts are afoot to open link roads also, said he.
