Maluka Denies Lax Quality Control Of Mid Day Meal

The Punjab Education Minister Sikander Singh Maluka today strongly denied the contention of former Health Minister, Punjab Prof. Lakshmi Kanta Chawala regarding bad quality of mid day meal served to the students of Punjab and said that Punjab was taking all steps to maintain quality and nutrition of mid day meal in the state.In a statement issued here today, Mr. Maluka said that quality of mid day meal in Punjab has been recognized by Union government and Punjab has bagged 2nd position in the quality of mid day meal across the country after Tamil Nadu.Seeking the cooperation of general public, the Education Minister said that every citizen has a right to bring shortcomings, if any, to the notice of concerned officers or health officials and even ask them to take samples of mid day meal. He said that he had been regularly visiting schools in the remote rural areas and enjoying mid day meal sitting with the students with the singular purpose of checking its quality. He said that Punjab government was fully vigilant to its duty to provide nutritious and hygienic mid day meal to all students and would continue to endeavor for it.
