Former Chief Minister and the Amritsar MP Capt Amarinder Singh today asked the Union Minister for Finance and Defence Mr Arun Jaitely to clarify his stand on the spate of fake cases being registered against the Congress workers across the Amritsar parliamentary constituency in sheer vengeance and vindictiveness as they did not vote for him.In a statement issued here today, Capt Amarinder said, so far as he knew Mr Jaitely, he was sure that he will not stoop so low to resort to vindictiveness and vendetta against those who did not vote for him. “But unfortunately this is being done in Amritsar as tens of Congress workers have been implicated in false cases after the election results”, he said, while adding, he expected Mr Jaitely to clarify his stand on the issue. The CWC member said, it was obvious that the Akalis were feeling not only embarrassed but frustrated also as they had lost face before the BJP and Jaitely after latter’s defeat from Amritsar. “And now they have started venting their anger and frustration over the Congress workers realising little that this will further alienate and antagonise them”, he pointed out.

The former Chief Minister added that he expected a better political approach and attitude from Mr Jaitely towards his political opponents. “Your silence will only amount to your approval to all that is being done by the alliance government across Amritsar”, he told Mr Jaitely while warning that this will only create bad blood.“Elections”, he said, “are obviously won or lost but the adverse results should not mean that those you consider to have not supported you should be taught a lesson as is currently being done in Amritsar”. He pointed out, earlier two lawyers were assaulted who are still undergoing treatment while another lawyer was being implicated in a false case.
