Chief Minister, Virbhadra Singh said that India is a rich repository of art and culture and Shriram Bhartiya Kala Kendra, New Delhi was doing a yeoman service in preservation of country’s cultural heritage besides promoting the same.Virbhadra Singh was speaking at inaugural function of the three days Mythological Ballet fest at Gaiety Theatre here yesterday evening. He said that artists of Shriram Kala Kendra had infused life in the Mythological Ballet ‘Meera’ and enthralled the audience with their performance. He said that artists have captured and enshrined, as aesthetically as possible, the life sketch and un-parallel devotion of Meera towards the Lord Krishna. He said that Meera is one of the greatest mystic poet of our country, who had spread the message of self realization and awakening through the bhajans.
Chief Minister said that artists of Shriram Kala Kendra must have also enjoyed performing in historic Gaiety Theatre at Shimla. He said that the Gaiety Theatre was more than 125 years old heritage building which was renovated during his earlier tenure. He also lauded the efforts of Language, Arts & Culture and Tourism Departments for organizing such prestigious events in Shimla. He said that apart from Shimla such programmes should be organized in other parts of the State.Virbhadra Singh honoured the artists by presenting Himachali caps to them.Commissioner Tourism, Shri Mohan Chauhan welcomed the Chief Minister. irector, Language, Art & Culture (LAC) Shri Arun Sharma presented vote of thanks.Chief Parliamentary Secretaries Shri Sohan Lal and Shri Mansa Ram, Additional Chief Secretary (LAC) Smt. Upma Chaudhary and other senior officers were also present on the occasion.
