Minister for Social Welfare, Sakina Itoo chaired a high level meeting of officers to review the working of various wings of Social Welfare Department here. The Minister during the meeting received brief regarding framing of rules for Juvenile Justice Act, Senior citizens Act, Constitution of Child Rights Commission, besides, mobilization of funds from planning and Finance department for clearance of pending pension cases ,opening of sanctioned Anganwari centres, Tehsil Social Welfare Offices, regularization of pending cases of migrants, consolidated and contractual employees, available vacancies for recruitment and implementation of marriage assistance scheme to orphan girls.
The Minister stressed upon the Director Social Welfare, Kashmir for personally monitoring the functioning of all Anganwari Centres and to ensure complaints regarding inadequate nutrition to the children in some Anganwari Centres are addressed immediately. She also directed for framing a committee that will conduct regular checks in this regard.The Minister was informed that under NFBS Rs.47 lakhs were released against 2000 pending cases, while the department further requires Rs. 2 crore for clearing all pending cases.
Itoo also directed for sorting out the issue regarding problems being faced by old aged pensioners in getting their pension from J&K Bank immediately.During the meeting, issues regarding construction of Gujjar Bhawan,scholarships for SC and tribal students were also taken up. The meeting was attended by Secretary, Social Welfare Department, Mr.Gazanfar Hussain, Director, Social Welfare Department, Kashmir, Farooq Ahmed, Managing Director, SC/ST, Corporation, Managing Director, WDC, Ex. Director, Rehabilitation Council, Secretary, Social Welfare Board and other senior officers of the Social Welfare Department.
