Badal Inaugurates Cancer Cure Center At Rajindra Hospital 

All Possible Legal Steps Would Be Initiated Regarding Rajoana’s Case-Badal

The Punjab Government would develop Rajindra Hospital as a state-of-the-art medical institution in the region and spent Rs. 150 crore in next two years to update the entire equipment and the existing infrastructure in addition to develop it as advanced diagnostic center and super specialty hospital.

An announcement to this effect was made by Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal here today while inaugurating a cancer cure center equipped with a Simulator installed at a cost of Rs. 3 crore for the treatment of dreaded cancer and Rs. 28 lac Mammography machine for earlier detection of breast cancer in females.

Mr. Badal along with Medical Education & Research Minister Bhagat Chunni Lal reviewed the functioning of the institution and took a round of the hospital to know even minute difficulties being faced by the patients and the staff. Expressing concern over the present status of the health services he announced that in future NRI student admission charges and user charges being received at RajindraHospital would be spent entirely on the development of theGovernment Medical College and its hospital. 

During an interactive session with the medical fraternity the Chief Minister directed Secretary Medical Education and Research Mrs. Anjali Bhawra and Government Medical College Principal Dr. KD Singh to left no stone unturned for developing Rajindra Hospital as a state-of-the-art health institution of Punjab. He further asked to prepare a comprehensive plan for the overall development of the institution.

The Chief Minister also approved to constitute two committees namely Hospital Affairs committee and Academic Affairs Committee for the smooth functioning of the institute and authorised these committees to take any decision to grant approval for any donation based project for the hospital. 

Mr. Badal reiterated the firm commitment of SAD-BJP government to keep marching ahead for strengthening the health care infrastructure in Punjab to provide world class health care facilities in the urban as well as rural sectors of the state through government hospitals. Mr. Badal also called upon the entire medical fraternity in the state to work with full devotion and dedication to provide best health care treatment to the public especially to the poor. He assured that government would strengthen the infrastructure more wherever it needed. Government had launched an inclusive programme to provide effective treatment based on the contemporary scientific developments world over for curing cancer patients in the state.

Later, replying a question of the media persons about seeking clemency for Rajoana, Mr. Badal said that he being a humble Sikh of Guru Sahib, had great faith and respect for Sri Akal Takht Sahib and government would initiate all possible legal steps regarding Rajoana’s case. Earlier also they had been doing the same, added Mr. Badal. Mr. Badal appealed the people of Punjab to maintain hard earned peace and communal harmony in the state.

Prominent amongst those who were present on the occasion included, Rural Development and Panchayat Minister Mr. Surjit Singh Rakhra, Chairman Board of Governance of Indian Medical Council Dr. KK Talwar, Special Principal secretary to the Chief minister Mr. KJS Cheema, VC Baba Farid University of Health Science Dr. SS Gill, Principal Secretary Finance and Planning Mr. Satish Chandra, Director Medical Research and Education Dr. Jai Kishan and Principal Government dental College Dr. Vipan Bharti.
