The state election commission appealed the candidates in fray for the forthcoming Panchayat Samiti and Zila Parishad elections to abstain from using unaccounted cash to lure the voters. Commission also urges the voters to stay away from accepting any offer of liquor and money from the candidates. Describing use of money and liquor to influence the voters a threat to democracy, SEC asks to voters to cast their vote fearlessly.
In a press statement released here today spokesperson of the SEC said that strict advisory has also been issued to the all the candidates in fray also to the political parties asking them to shun the habit of luring voters through illegal means. He said that a delegation of Sikh institutions under the leadership of Giani Kewal Singh, former Jathedar, Takhat Damdama Sahib, today met the Secretary of the SEC, Mr. M.L Sharma, with a request to act strictly to stomp out the use of liquor and money in the elections.
