Kaul Singh Thakur, Heath and Family Welfare Minister called on Union Health
Minister Gulam Nabi Azad at New Delhi today and thanked him for providing liberal assistance to Himachal Pradesh for strengthening health sector in the State. Shri Kaul Singh Thakur thanked Union Minister for sanctioning three more Medical Colleges, two cancer hospitals, two mother and child hospitals and for enhancing the grant under National Rural Health Mission.
Health Minister said that UPA led Union Government always remained sympathetic towards Himachal’s genuine demands and Shri Gulam Nabi Azad was particularly considerate towards the cause of Himachal Pradesh as he was well versed with the needs of the State. He said that after present Congress Government took over in the State, Union Health Ministry sanction three more Medical colleges in a short span of one year. He thanked Shri Gulam Nabi Azad for sanctioning Rs. 190 crore each for setting up these Medical Colleges at Chamba, Hamirpur and Sirmour districts. Union Health Ministry had also sanctioned Rs. 45 crore each for establishing Cancer hospitals at Shimla and Mandi, he added.He said that Union Health Ministry had also agreed to set up 100 bedded Mother and Child care hospitals each at Shimla in Kamla Nehru Hospital and at Mandi Zonal hospital and had provided Rs. 20 Crore each for the same.Shri Kaul Singh Thakur thanked Shri Gulam Nabi Azad for doubling the amount under National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) on the analogy of North- Eastern States.
