Aim To Build Constructive Enviornment In Jails: Sarwan Singh Phillaur

The Jails and Tourism Minister, Punjab Mr. Sarwan Singh Phillaur today said that building of constructive environment in the jails of Punjab would be his top priority besides inspiring the inmates towards sports and extra curricular activities. 

Mr. Phillaur, who assumed the charge of his office in presence of Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal, said that Punjab government would continue with its ongoing Jail Reforms for the betterment and welfare of inmates. He said that persion of inmates’ attention towards sports and other curricular activities would also prove helpful to curb the repeated crime in the society. He said that during the last regime of SAD-BJP government several jails have been modified and now the remaining jails would also be converted into modern jails.

When asked about the tourism policy of the state government, Mr. Phillaur said that he has already directed to the officers of the department to chalk out an impressive plan to bring the Punjab on the tourism map of the country. He said that the government would emphasise on heritage and geographical development of Punjab as it has capacity to become as one of the best tourism center of India. 

Prominent amongst those, who were present on the occasion included Mr. Sikander Singh Maluka, Education Minister, Mr. Ajit Singh Kohar, Transport Minister, Bibi Jagir Kaur, Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Minister, Mr. Mantar Brar, MLA Kotkapura and Former Union Minister Mr. Balwant Singh Ramoowalia and the officers of the duo departments.
