A benchmark index of Indian equities markets touched a record high of 23,410.36 points Monday, surpassing its previous record of 23,048.49 points hit Friday, ahead of exit polls results.Good buying was observed in banking, capital goods, oil and gas, metal and auto sectors, while selling pressure was seen in healthcare sector.The 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex) of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 23,031.11 points, was trading at 23,375.31 points in the pre-noon session, up 381.08 points or 1.66 percent from the previous day's close at 22,994.23 points.

The Sensex touched a high of 23,410.36 points and a low of 23,008.65 points in trade.The S&P BSE bankex gained 391.92 points, capital goods index surged by 276.54 points, oil and gas index went up by 205.86 points, metal index moved up by 155.44 points and auto index inched up by 190.06 points. However, healthcare index slipped by 38.95 points.The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was surged by 108.10 points or 1.58 percent and was trading at 6,966.90 points.
