Former Chief Minister and Permanent Invitee to the Congress Working Committee Capt Amarinder Singh today condemned the murderous assault on Vaneet Mahajan, one of the complainants against Anil Joshi in dual vote case and the registration of false FIR against advocate Sandeep Gorsi, another complainant and the Congress councillor Gurinder Rishi. He pointed out, it cannot just be a coincidence that a false case is registered against one of the complainants while another complainant is attacked and seriously injured at the same time. Capt Amarinder said, this was a clear case of political vendetta and warned the police officials responsible for this victimisation asking them not to blindly follow the diktats of their Akali-BJP bosses. He said, this also reflected the frustration within the ruling alliance over the imminent electoral results which are going to be a slap on their face.In a statement issued here today, Capt Amarinder demanded immediate registration of case against the culprits responsible for murderous attack on Mahajan. He said, they must be immediately arrested. He also sought immediate cancellation of the FIR failing which the Congress party will launch massive protests.
He asked the police not to come under pressure of the Akali-BJP leaders and victimise innocent people. He pointed out, these cases will be subjected to thorough legal scrutiny as the party will approach the courts and those officials responsible for having registered the false cases will have to account for that.The former Chief Minister said, Gorsi was instrumental in exposing the BJP minister Anil Joshi who has now been cornered in the case of dual vote and has virtually no defence. He said, now he was trying to build up pressure by illegal means against Gorsi in which he will never succeed. He said, he will ensure that the case against Joshi is taken to logical conclusion and he lands up where he deserves to be.Capt Amarinder said, the Congress will resort to all the legal and lawful means to ensure that none of the party leaders and workers, particularly those who had confronted the wrong doings of the Akali-BJP leaders and ministers is victimised. He said, the entire party stood by them and will go to any extent to defend them.
