Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal asked the Chief General Manager of NABARD Punjab Region Mr. Krishan Jindal to completely utilize the sanctioned funds under various schemes within stipulated time to avoid any lapse of these funds.

Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the Chief Minister's office said that Mr. Badal was presiding over a high level meeting with the team of NABARD led by Mr. Krishan Jindal here today and reviewed the report prepared by NABARD about the under utilized funds. The other members of the NABARD's team included General Manager Mr. DC Sharma and AGM Mr. RR Badyal. Mr. Jindal briefed the Chief Minister about the possibility of drawal of RIDF loan of around Rs. 130 crore from NABARD under the ongoing projects and submission of one new project involving RIDF loan of around Rs. 50 crore for sanction during the current financial year (2011-12). 

Mr. Jindal apprised that NABARD could have disbursed more but limit of Rs. 450 crore fixed under Section 293 (3) of the Constitution of India for the State was the limiting factor.  He requested that the State Government may pursue with the Planning Commission to get the same enhanced to Rs. 600 crore for the year 2012-13

Mr. Badal directed all the concerned Secretaries of the departments of Irrigation- Drainage/ Kandi Area Development/, Water Supply and Sanitation, Public Works, Punjab Water Resources Management and Development Corporation, to submit drawal applications to NABARD through the Finance Department by 20 March 2012. He further asked for sending a project for construction of roads and warehouses to NABARD with in next two days.

Prominent amongst others who were present in the meeting included, Financial Commissioner Revenue Mr. NS Kang, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. SK Sandhu, KJS Cheema and Mr. KS Pannu both Special Principal Secretaries to the Chief Minister, Principal Secretary Animal Husbandry Mr. Jagpal Singh Sandhu, Principal Secretary Finance Mr. Satish Chandra, Principal Secretary Irrigation Mr. KBS Sidhu, Principal Secretary PWD (B&R) Mr. PS Aujla, Principal Secretary Cultural Affairs and Tec. Education Mr. SS Channi and Secretary  Water Supply and Sanitation Mr, Sanjay Kumar.
