Strongly condemning the police action against PHE dial wagers who had taken to streets in support of their demands, CPI (M) State Secretary Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami has said the government is complicating the grievances of daily wagers through use of force and browbeating. In a statement issued here, Tarigami said that unfortunately instead of redressing grievances of people especially that of employees, the government is resorting to force and cudgeling to buy the time.

“The government should be alive to the needs and aspirations of the people and make all out efforts to redress the grievances,” he said, adding that the government should without any delay fulfill the genuine demands of the daily wagers working in different departments.“Maintaining that the government must do introspection and refrain from using force as a sole means to tackle issues” he said that such actions dent its own legitimacy. The right to organize voluntary protests is an inalienable right of the people in a democratic polity and if such rights are stifled it only complicates issues and compels the protesters to adopt more confrontationist path, he cautioned. While strongly advocating the regularization demand of the protesting daily wagers, CPI (M) leader has urged upon the government to release their pending wages without any further delay.
