Intervening during the question hour in Legislative Assembly , Chief Minister Omar Abdullah asked the members of the House to prefer their demands to the Government in writing for setting up of fire-fighting stations in their constituencies so that these are examined and considered on merits.“I request the members to send their demands in writing for setting up of fire-fighting stations in their constituencies to the Home Department so that these are considered for sanctioning on merits. In order to save the time of the House the members are requested to send their demands in writing”, he said when various members spoke about the need of such stations in their constituencies and many more wanted to get their similar demands registered by Minister of State for Home Sajjad Ahmad Kichloo, who replied the main question in this regard by MLA, Zadibal Peer Afaq.Minister of State for Home, Mr. Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo has said that Government is considering to establish Fire Service stations in required areas adding that the Fire Service Stations working in internal arrangements would be also be regularized in due course of time. 

Replying to the supplementaries raised by some members to the main question of Peer Afaq today in the House, the Minister said that demands of local representatives would be considered while establishment of these Fire Service Stations in the State. In reply to the main question the Minister said the area of Lal Bazar is presently being looked after by nearest Fire and Emergency Stations of Nowshera, Hazratbal and Soura which are at a distance of 4-6 kms respectively. Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen, Mr. G. M. Saroori, Mr. Mohammad Irfan Shah, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta, Mr. Jagdish Raj Sapolia, Mr. Mohammad Sharief Niaz and Mr. M. Y. Tarigami raised supplementaries and demanded establishment of Fire Service Stations in their respective areas. In reply to another question by Mr. Ashwani Sharma, the Minister said that there is no such policy or proposal to provide shelter at safer places to the people living in Pak shelling range on permanent basis. He, however, said that as and when such incidents takes place, people living in the Pak shelling range are temporary shifted to nearest safer places and provided shelter in available Government buildings and private houses till restoration of normalcy and their return to native places.
