Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Tuesday reiterated his government’s determination for holistic and inclusive development in the State adding that the economic welfare of far-flung and backward pockets figures among the top priorities in the State’s Policy Planning.Talking to a deputation of inhabitants of Bani led by former Deputy Speaker Ghulam Haider Malik, here this afternoon, the Chief Minister said that special schemes launched to uplift the rural and backward areas have started yielding positive results. “Our priority is to upgrade ommunication, education and health cover in these areas to help generate economic activities and give fillip to education and health care facilities”, he said adding that the government would continue to give special attention to achieve the targeted goals of development in these areas.Thanking the Chief Minister for his keen interest in the comprehensive development of all regions and all sections and showing concern for the progress of bad pockets of the State, the deputation brought to the notice of the Chief Minister various demands requiring his attention.The deputation demanded recognition of entire Bani Assembly Segment as the bad pocket for its remoteness and backwardness. It also demanded creation of NES Block with headquarter at Bhatodi/Duggain bringing panchayats of Najot, Sadrota, Bhatodi, Banjal, Batwal, Dhanu Prrol, Gudufalal and Lahari.The deputation demanded creation of three nayabats one each at Lohi-Malhar, Machhedi and Bhatodi in Billawar Tehsil. It also emphasized the need for construction of road from Uj Bridge near Gudufalal to Sarla-Junana to benefit more that 15,000 souls of the area. It also requested for providing funds for construction of road from Bhundha to Sadrota via Galli as a part of Khogh-Dugain road.The deputation requested for requisite staff for Government High School, Sadrota and setting up of Primary Health Centres at Lowang and Dullangal. It also requested for funds for the construction of building for PHC Chandyhar and posting of locals in education and health institutes functioning in Bani, Lohi-Malhar and Duggan blocks.Malik led deputation sought Chief Minister help for ST status to Koli-Bradhari a sub cast of Sippi-Gadi speaking community. It requested for a fresh survey for identification of BPL families in the area. It also sought special recruitment drive by Police Department for the youth of Bani Assembly Segment.The Chief Minister gave patient hearing and said that the demands presented to him would be given due consideration.Political Secretary to the Chief Minister, Tanveer Sadiq was also present in the meeting.
