While demanding immediate release of youth detained in various jails, Hurriyat Conference (G) Chairman, Syed Ali Geelani today warned New Delhi of dangerous consequences “in case it did not stop ‘atrocities’ against Kashmiris”. In a video statement to 5dariyanews  the octogenarian leader said, “We tell the GoI’s  home department, which is in reality controlling and governing the state, that excesses, arrests, atrocities on youth apart from harming their educational careers and health  will have dangerous consequences which will not be unbearable for them (GoI)”.

“So I demand that our youth wherever they are or lodged or detained should be released and excesses against them stopped immediately as atrocities like ransacking homes, arresting youth, persecuting them are crossing the limits of tolerance”, he said.He accused the police and CRPF of committing excesses against people of Kashmir and those of Muslim belts in Jammu region. “On this occasion I salute youth of Kashmir and of muslim areas of Jammu region who are facing worst kind of state terrorism. People in Kashmir and Jammu Muslim dominated areas are being arrested, searched, and detained and not even being allowed to sit in their homes. Their homes are ransacked by police and CRPF while they are detained in jails and police stations”, he said and added that even elderly people were not being spared. He said he was not addressing the local government as according to him it had no authority. “I put my demands before the GOI since in reality there is no local government which would have some authority here. It is the Home Ministry of India that controls and is running the state government through its forces. Police, army, CRPF and other forces are under its control as thet state government is being directly run from Delhi.

Omar Abdullah has himself admitted that he is a daily wager. Since they have nothing in their hands, so we won’t tell them”, Geelani said. Geelani was today arrested and lodged at Humhama police station when he was going to offer Friday prayers at a local mosque, a Hurriyat spokesman said.“I had told policemen that we won’t go any far but offer prayers at the local Jamia mosque here in Hyderpora. I had also told them that I would not address people before prayers, which you fear. However, I will meet people and talk to them after prayers but there would be no law and order problem which you are citing as an excuse (for not allowing me to move out)”, Geelani said before he was whisked away by policemen.

Geelani condemned the alleged killings by CRPF and also by unknown people. “I condemn them in strong terms”, he said. However he said unless people of Jammu and Kashmir were allowed to decide their future through right to self determination, there cannot be return of normalcy”.“We are under occupation and are fighting against occupation. I declare that we will continue our struggle against occupation and until we achieve freedom. Our struggle will continue Inshallah,  Inshallah, Inshallah”, he said.
