Initiatives taken by the state government to cater the flood-affected people in the marooned villages are proving to be blessings for the flood-hit population as various essential commodities such as food packets, water bottles, medicines and vaccination to the animals are being made available to the people through mobile boat teams comprising officers from health, food and civil supply and animal husbandry departments.Divulging the details, Deputy Commissioner Ferozepur Mr. Chander Gaind said that to provide immediate relief to the stranded people specialized mobile boat teams have been constituted in the district. These teams have been stationed at various flood-hit villages along with relief material. Mr. Gaind said that the teams are delivering food packets, medicines, and other necessary commodities to the stranded people by going into the water through motorboats. The deputy commissioner said that the early deployment of NDRF and Army teams already helped in multiple ways to initiate rescue operation well in time as around 500 stranded people have been rescued so far. There are some families refused to come out of the water despite repeated requests and now relief material along with medical assistance being provided to them through mobile boat teams, he added. Mr. Gaind said that these teams have attended more than 500 patients and provided them necessary medicines besides other essential items adding he said that various department heads have been directed to fix the duties of employees who are going to be part of these mobile boat team as any kind of callousness in this duty will be unwarranted and attract action.Mr. Gaind said reiterated that the state government led by Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh was committed for bailing out the people in this hour of crisis and the administration would leave no stone unturned to help the people affected by floods.
