In wake of a sudden rise in water level due to the release of excessive water from Ropar Headwork, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Moga Sandeep Hans accompanied by Dharamkot MLA Sukhjeet Singh Kaka Lohgarh on Sunday, visited flood-affected villages falling in Dharamkot subdivision to review the arrangements made for tackling the flood-like situation.The MLA and Deputy Commissioner visited two most-affected villages including Sanghera and Kambo Khurd and oversaw the arrangements made to tackle the flood-like situation. They also said that the district administration was fully geared up to meet any sort of emergency situation. Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Dharamkot Narinder Singh was also present during the visit.However, they appealed to the people residing in low lying or flood-prone areas that they should move to four relief centres set up by the district administration for their security. The four relief centres include Dharamkot, Kishanpura Kalan, Khamba and Fatehgarh Panjtoor have been set up while the district administration has also established one emergency centre at Reharhva village.Deputy Commissioner said that all arrangements for food, boarding and lodging, fodder for animals, vaccination for human being and cattle besides other necessary logistics have been made in these evacuation centres. They further said that all the officers have been directed to facilitate the people coming in these centres for help. They said that the officers/officials have been passed necessary directions to ensure that people do not face any sort of inconvenience.As per the information, there are around 28 affected villages falling in Dharamkot sub-division while three including Sanghera, Kambo Khurd and Bhaini are the most affected and the district administration has made announcements to urge people to shift to the relief centres.Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner has also held a meeting with representatives of various Non-Government Organisations (NGOs) of Moga and sought their support to tackle any emergency like situation.
