Capt Amarinder Singh Kick Starts Development Projects Worth Rs. 265 Cr For Jalandhar & Kapurthala

Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Wednesday laid foundation stones/inaugurated a slew of development projects, worth Rs 265.15 crores, to spruce up Jalandhar and Kapurthala districts.While inaugurating/laying the foundation stones of these projects through video conferencing, the Chief Minister said his government was committed to providing the basic facilities to raise the standard of living of the people in the state. Of the projects unveiled by the Chief Minister, Rs 132.54 crore is being spent on the development projects in Kapurthala district in commemoration of the 550th Prakash Purb of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji. As part of the year-long celebration of the 550th Prakash Purb of Sri Guru Nanak Dev, the Chief Minister inaugurated Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Centre for Invention, Innovation, Incubation and Training (CIIIT) as ‘SPOKE’ at the Sultanpur Lodhi campus of IK Gujral PTU at a cost of Rs. 103 crore. Being a Skill Development Centre, CIIIT would provide ready local pool of engineers, operators, technicians and skilled manpower required by the industries in manufacturing sector besides enhancing employability and imparting Certificate Course to Research Level Course up to PhD. The entire project has been based on ‘HUB” and “SPOKE” model in collaboration with Tata Technologies Limited (TTL), Pune, with a total project cost of Rs. 707 Crore in which PTU has its share of 12% and TTL 88%. The project has three components with Hub at PTU Campus Kapurthala, involving a cost of Rs 304 Crores, which would be ready in 3 months. The Spoke is at Sultanpur Lodhi Campus, which has been inaugurated today at a cost of Rs. 103 Crores, and Hub at Chamkaur Sahib at a cost of Rs 300 Crores, where the work has just started.

Captain Amarinder also inaugurated state-of-the-art Guru Nanak Dev Auditorium at IK Gujral PTU at a cost of Rs 20 crores, with seating capacity of 800 and the latest facilities for live telecast of functions and video conferencing. Bebe Nanki University College for Girls at Village Fattu Dhinga, Sultanpur Lodhi has been inaugurated at a cost of Rs. 9.54 Crores to impart higher education to girls from rural areas. This constituent college of Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, spread over an area of 27 acres would provide quality education in different disciplines, including B.A., B.C.A, B. Com., B. Sc., Medical and Non-Medical and Fashion Designing.To give further impetus to the overall development in and around Jalandhar City, Captain Amarinder Singh laid the foundation stone for supply, fixing and five-years operation and maintenance of Smart LED street lights in the entire city at a cost of Rs. 46 Crores. Under this project, to be completed by August 2020, all the existing street lights in the city would be replaced with Smart LED lights. The Chief Minister laid the foundation stone of way finding and traffic signages project for the entire city to facilitate smooth flow of traffic at a cost of Rs. 3.14 crores, which would be completed by August 2020. The Chief Minister also laid foundation stone of Smart City Project to impart computer education in 140 Government primary and middle schools, having 470 digital class rooms, at a cost of Rs. 3.69 crores, which would be completed by August 2020.The Chief Minister also laid the foundation stone of a project for supply and  5-years operation and maintenance of self-propelled sweeping machine for Burlton Park area at a cost of Rs. 3 crores, to be completed by November 2019. 

Captain Amarinder Singh also laid the foundation stone of 2504 meter long Storm Sewer Line to carry water from Doaba Chowk up to Kala Sanghian drain at a cost of Rs. 5.41 crores. The project would be completed in August 2020, and would benefit over one lac people living in its vicinity. He also laid the foundation stone of extension of 5.5 kms long Storm Water Sewer from petrol pump to Dairy Complex near Jamsher at a cost of Rs 67 lakh, with a target population nearly 2 lakh to be benefitted.The Chief Minister also inaugurated various Water Supply Schemes in nearby Bhundian village (Rs. 37 lakh) in Bhogpur Block, villages in Jalandhar West Block including Gopalpur (Rs. 25 lakh), Faridpur ( Rs. 30 lakh) and Mirpur (Rs. 34 lakh), inaugurating Rs. 27 lakh piped water project at village Sohal Talkha Dakhni in Lohian Block. These rural water supply projects cover nearly 4000 households of these villages.On the occasion, former Minister Rana Gurjit Singh, MLA Sultanpur Lodhi Navtej Singh Cheema and Member Parliament from Khadoor Sahib Jasbir Singh Gill ‘Dimpa’ profusely thanked Captain Amarinder Singh through video conferencing for giving a major push to the overall development of the region.Jalandhar MP Chaudhary Santokh Singh complemented the Chief Minister for inauguration and initiation of various projects for holistic development of Jalandhar City and its surroundings.Prominent amongst those present on the occasion were Tourism and Cultural Affairs Minister Charanjijit Singh Channi, Chairman Markfed Amarjit Singh Samra, MLAs Pargat Singh, Sushil Rinku, Chaudhary Surinder Singh, Rajinder Beri, Avtar Henry, Hardev Singh Ladi besides Chairman Punsup Tejinder Bittu, Principal Secretary PWD Husain Lal, Special Principal Secretary to CM Gurkirat Kirpal Singh and Commissioner Jalandhar Division B Purushartha.
