Deputy Commissioner Fazilka Manpreet Singh Chhatwal and Senior Superintendent of Police Bhupinder Singh today appealed to the people of the district to keep intact the fabric of communal harmony and mutual amity in the light of recent development on Jammu and Kashmir. Both the officers have convened district level peace committee meeting with the leaders of national and regional parties and representatives of various religious social organizations and other dignitaries of the district.Addressing the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner said that dwelled along the international Indo-Pak border, Fazilka has seen many fluctuations from the beginning and the credit should be given to the brave-heart residents of the district, who maintained brotherhood and mutual harmony during the odd times.He said that the decisions taken by the government at the supreme law-making platform are part of the democratic process. So we must respect those decisions and make continuous efforts for the restoration of peace in the district. "In the light of the recent situation, everyone should maintain mutual goodwill and any party should avoid celebrating or mourning government's decision and to desist from untoward activities", he said, adding that all the SDMs are in touch with Kashmiri students residing in the district. He said that SDMs have been directed to convene the meeting with dignitaries and representative of the religious and social organizations.While addressing the representatives, SSP Mr. Bhupinder Singh assured that, "safety of all the communities living in the district is the top responsibility and priority of the police, and we are performing our duty with utmost dedication.''
He urged the people to be careful of rumours and should avoid any kind of provocative material on any platform of the social media.Thanking the dignitaries, both the officers expressed hope that people of all sections will maintain communal harmony and affection in all situations.
