In order to elicit maximum support and cooperation from school students to wipe out the menace of drugs from the district, the Jalandhar (Rural) Police today organized an interactive program with the school students.Presiding over the program held in the premises of Government Senior Secondary School Karari, the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Kartarpur Surinder Pal Dhogri said that the war against drugs could be won only with the active support of the students. He said that students must act as a catalyst for spreading maximum awareness against the drug menace. Mr. Dhogri said that it would be very helpful in ensuring that this curse was illuminated from the district.The Deputy Superintendent of Police further said that the ongoing Drug Abuse Prevention Officer (DAPO) campaign has produced the desired results in awakening the students against this curse. Likewise, he said that the Buddy program has also been very effective in the schools. Mr. Dhogri said that these initiatives must be continued until Jalandhar was not made a drug free district.On the occasion, the Deputy Superintendent of Police also launched the Student Police Cadet project in the school. He said that this school based youth development project aims at imparting training high school students to evolve them as good citizens by inculcating within them respect for the law, discipline, civic sense, empathy for vulnerable sections of society and resistance to social evils. Mr. Dhogri said that this was an ambitious program aimed at ensuring the holistic development of the students.Meanwhile, Principal of the School Mr. Harbhans Lal, Assistant Nodal Officer DAPO Mr. Surjit Lal and others welcomed the Deputy Superintendent of Police and apprised him about the activities being organized in the school.
