Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has assured necessary action on the completion of the Banga-Garhshankar-Sri Anandpur Sahib-Naina Devi Road  which falls in his parliamentary constituency. Following up the matter with the union minister about the construction of the road, Sri Anadnpur Sahib MP, Manish Tewari met Mr  Gadkari in New Dehli today and reminded him about the urgency for completing the road.Earlier, Tewari had met the Union Minister on June 3 demanding early completion of the  road.Mr Gadkari told Tewari that the matter had been referred to the National Highway Authority of India for necessary action.Tewari pointed out that Mr Gadkari himself had laid  the foundation stone of the road on February 25 this year before the announcement of the code of conduct for the parliamentary elections to be constructed at a tentative cost of  Rs 581 crores.Tewari said, he brought to the notice of the union minister the fact that currently the Punjab government was celebrating the 550thbirth anniversary of Guru Nanak  Dev Ji. He said, millions of people from across the globe were likely to descend on Punjab to mark the occasion. The MP said, since Sri Anandpur Sahib was one of the five  ‘takhats’ (seats) of Sikhism, where the foundation of the  Khalsa was laid down by Guru Gobind Singh Ji, it was likely to attract a large number of pilgrims. He said, it was  important to complete the road on time.He disclosed that Mr Gadkari appreciated his concern and urgency and assured that necessary action was being taken.
