Aman Arora, AAP MLA from Sunam on Thursday, lambasted at the State Govt and the Speaker for purposely demolishing the institution of State Assembly just to serve their myopic interests of not facing the Opposition due to their herculean failures in all spheres.Accusing the Govt and the speaker for a mere 2 sitting Monsoon Session and declaring it as a cruel joke with the people of the State, Arora reminded the Speaker of Rule 14-A of the 'Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Vidhan Sabha' that mandates minimum 40 sittings in a year, which used to be a very common practice till 1970s which later on deterioted leading Assembly Sessions to a mere formality.Arora, supported by the record from the Assembly from 2012 to 2018, said that in last 7 years, Assembly sittings were for 100 Days, met for 362  hours, had to be adjourned for 25 Hours, 316 number of Call Attention Motions submitted with only 129 accepted by the Speaker, none out of 24 Adjournment Motions accepted by the Speaker , none of the 10 Private Member Bills ever accepted by the Speaker, and still prototype justification from the Speaker for short session duration is always attributed to lack of business, whereas fact of the matter is that Govt doesn't allow the Speaker to accept issues that they are not comfortable with and thus snub opposition's voice. Arora said that of total working hours of 362 a total of 210 Crores  from the public exchequer apart from salaries and TA DA's of the CM, Ministers and MLA 's has been spent.Further , criticising the Govt for not scheduling any business on the first day of obituaries, which used to be a common practice from 1948 to 1979,  Arora appealed to Speaker to extend session to minimum 15 sittings, allow live telecast of the proceedings and  schedule business on the first day of Obituaries, otherwise as a mark of protest, he shall not take TA & DA for the first day, citing the principle of 'No Work - No Allowance'.
