Industries Minister Bikram Singh met Union Human Resource Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal at New Delhi on Thursday and urged to approve centrally funded Design and Architecture Institute for the state. He said opening of this institute would go a long way in preservation of architecture of the Himalaya region besides facilitating learning and teaching of hilly architecture.Bikram said that being a hilly state, Himachal Pradesh has limited resources and thousands of youth have to go out of the state for making their career in design and architecture sector as this facility is not available in the state. He said that the state government would provide required land and other facilities for setting up of this institute. He said that this institute could become a measure for studies and teaching in the sector of disaster management and environment conservation. This would also prove to be a milestone in the field of technical education. The Union Minister said that Himachal Pradesh would be given preference whenever such institute would be opened in the future.
