Governor Acharya Devvrat released a book 'Himachal Pradesh a Cultural Perspective' written by Kanchan Sharma based on folk culture, popular beliefs and social order of the state at Raj Bhavan today.The Governor appreciated the efforts of the writer and urged the authors, poets and intellectuals to present such thoughtful material in their articles, books and poems that helps in eliminating the evils and misconceptions prevailing in the society and to create an egalitarian society based on Vedic traditions.He said that assessment of prevalent beliefs and blind faith is necessary from a scientific point of view. The authors can make meaningful initiatives in this direction. This will create new thinking of development and strengthen scientific outlook.Acharya Devvrat said that many traditions started as symbols but during medieval times there was a transformation in the traditions, which led to hypocrisy and blind faith. He said that the saints and scholars of that time also strongly opposed the hypocrisy. There is a need to analyze all the concepts related to hypocrisy and blind faiths so that the welfare of all sections of the society could be ensured.He said that violence and violent acts done for selfish purposes are sins and nurturing wrong beliefs for selfishness is not right.
