New Initiative: DC Ferozepur Launches ‘One Day One School’ Drive Against Drug Menace

In order to profoundly combat the drug menace, the deputy commissioner Mr. Chander Gaind has launched a unique initiative ‘One Day One School’ drive in the district. All officers including SDMs, Additional deputy commissioners and the deputy commissioner to visit all 479 schools in the district to aware the students of drug menace. Giving a kick start to drive the deputy commissioner has visited five schools and interacted with more than 1500 students. During his visit to schools, Mr. Gaind exhorted students to keep vigil in their neighborhood about this menace so that preventive measures can be taken well in time. He told students about symptoms of a drug-affected person and explained to them how to stay away from the company of such people besides having a humanitarian approach towards drug affected people. He called upon students to inform their school teacher or headmaster if they have any information on drug paddlers in their locality and asked teachers to take quick action on students’ inputs by informing police and administration.

The deputy commissioner selected 88 schools to visit, which falls in the radius of 10 kilometers of the district headquarter and asked all the officials to visit schools within their jurisdiction. Divulging further, the deputy commissioner said that its need of the hour to education and sensitize our children about this menace so that a cautious approach can be instilled in their mind. By instilling a behavior against drug abuse we can enable our kids to combat the menace profoundly without any trouble. He appealed children to ask their parents clearly whether they are involved in the drug trade if they (children) doubted.The deputy commissioner has visited government senior secondary school for boys, government senior secondary school for girls, Ferozepur, G.S.S.S. village Rukna Begu and G.S.S.S. for boys and girls Mamdot, where he has addressed more than 1500 students so far.The deputy commissioner said the drive would yield positive results as hundreds of thousands of children are going to be sensitized against the menace. During his visit to the schools, the deputy also appealing the students to adopt a positive approach towards nature while planting saplings in each school,where he is asking students to plan a tree on their name and nurse them until they are grown up. Mr. Gaind has planted saplings in all five schools.
