Led by deputy commissioner Chander Gaind a large number of Ferozepurians took part in the cycle rally against drug abuse organized by district administration Ferozepur on the eve of the international day against drugs. People expressed solidarity against drugs and pledged together to wipe out this menace from the district.The deputy commissioner flagged off the Rally at 5.30am which after passing through town hall, Shaheed Udham Singh Chowk, Multani Chowk, Makhu Gate, Bagi Park culminated at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Stadium.Leading the event from the front, the deputy commissioner himself participated in the rally and rode a bicycle in the loop. En route to the culmination point, Mr. Gaind stopped at Town Hall and Bagi Park, where he interacted with the people, especially morning walkers. In his interaction with the people, the deputy commissioner solicited support from people in order to wipe out the drug menace completely.He said that if the people of Punjab can eliminate terrorism then they can also combat Narco-Terrorism, they just need to be united against this abuse. He called upon people to stand together against drugs suppliers, oppose them openly, protest against them and inform the police and special task force against the perpetrators of this act. He ensured people that the suppliers will not be able to withstand the mass opposition.

Sharing STF headquarters' contact number i.e. 79019-59595, 79019-39393 with the general public, the deputy commissioner exhorted people to complain against smugglers without any fear and ensured them the prompt action will be taken on their inputs.Further, he appealed people to form Mohalla level committees against drug abuse and work as eye and ears of the district administration and police, adding that he expressed hope that these committees will work as a catalyst against this menace besides sensitizing people to make this war on drugs a mass movement. Addressing the children participating in the cycle rally, Mr. Gaind motivated them to be aware of this menace. He exhorted students to help people stuck in the drugs and help them get rid of this problem besides treating them as patients. He asked parents instill a behavior in their children against drugs so that they can learn to handle this problem during their primitive days.The deputy commissioner lauded the efforts of various NGOs for making the event a successful event while giving a special note to the services rendered in the noble cause by Cycling Association Ferozepur, Agreed Foundation, Senior Citizen Council, Hussaniwale Riders, Way-ahead immigration besides Sports department, Health Department, Municipal Council, Various clubs and Education department. Prominent amongst others present on the occasion were CEO DCM group of schools Mr. Anirudh Gupta, Principal government school Gatti Rajoke Dr. Satinder School, Executive officer Mr. Charanjit Singh, Dr. Rajinder Manchanda, NGO members Mr. PD Sharma, Mr. Harish Monga, and Mr. Lakhwinder Singh besides others.
