 The Group of Ministers comprising of Tourism and Cultural Affairs Minister Mr. Charanjit Singh Channi, Medical Education and Research Minister Mr. O. P. Soni and Cooperation and Jails Minister S. Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa would call on Jathedar Sri Akal Takht Sahib Singh Sahib Bhai Harpreet Singh and President of Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak (SGPC) Bhai Gobind Singh Longowal on June 29 at Amritsar with a view to seek cooperation to celebrate 550th Parkash Purb of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.The decision to this effect was taken today at office of Tourism and Cultural Affairs Department here at Sector 38 during a meeting of the Group of Ministers (GoM) which has been constituted by Chief Minister, Punjab, Captain Amarinder Singh for approaching SGPC with regard to jointly celebrating the Parkash Purb. Giving details of the meeting, an official spokesperson said that the Group of Ministers during the meeting itself telephoned Jathedar Sri Akal Takht Sahib as well as SGPC President and sought time in the aftermath of which the date of 29th of June was agreed upon. 

The group of ministers would meet Jathedar Sri Akal Takht Sahib and SGPC President in order to seek guidance and cooperation to celebrate the Parkash Purb in accordance with the lofty ideals of Love, Peace and Mutual Amity preached by Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.The meeting also saw the group of ministers deliberating in detail about chalking out a roadmap to the celebrations. The issues which came up for discussion related to making arrangements for transportation of the devotees, Entrance Gate of the main function, Pandal and stage besides exhibitions alongside the function. It was also decided to organize a cycle rally dedicated to the Parkash Purb by the Sports Department from Sultanpur Lodhi to Dera Baba Nanak apart from Kabaddi competitions right from Sub-Division to National level.Among other dignitaries present on the occasion included Political Secretary to Chief Minister Captain Sandeep Singh Sidhu, Principal Secretary Tourism and Cultural Affairs Mr. Vikas Pratap, Principal Secretary Transport Mr. K. Siva Prasad, Chairman Punjab Kala Parishad Dr. Surjit Patar, President Punjab Lalit Kala Akademi Mr. Diwan Manna, Joint Director Tourism Mr. Lakhmir Singh, and Deputy Director Sports Mr. Kartar Singh Sehambi.
