With an objective of educating people against 'Heart Diseases' a state level function organized on the occasion of International Yoga Day under Mission Tandrust Paunjab, at Sports Complex Sector-78, whereas approximately 3000 participants took part.Minister of Health & Family Welfare and Labor Minister, Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu was present as a chief guest during the function. During this, he along with Additional Chief Secretary Health & Family Welfare Mr. Satish Chandra, Special Secretary of Deptt. Mr. Puneet Goel and Deputy Commissioner SAS Nagar Sh. Girish Dyalan participated and performed Yoga exercises.During this Mr. Sidhu said that yoga should be made an integral part for obtaining healthy life. As such, govt. is doing great efforts towards this. Deputing Yoga instructors in schools is under consideration of govt, so that children could be made aware about the benefits of Yoga. He said that in today's scenario due to changing life style, there are a lot of diseases erupted which could be prevented through Yoga.
During the program besides the students of more than 50 schools and 30 colleges, students from Chandigarh University & Rayat and Bahra group of colleges took part in the event, where yoga was performed by the participants under the supervision of 30 yoga instructors. Plants sapling was distributed to the participants so that they could also contribute for cleaner & greener environment.On this ocassion Health & Family Welfare Minister Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu honoured Mr. Satish Chandra, Puneet Goel & Deputy Commissioner Girish Dyalan. During this Director State Food & Drug Testing Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Additional Deputy Commissioner Amardeep Singh Bains, SDM Mohali Jagdeep Sehgal, Assistant Commissioner Yashpal Sharma, Divisional Forest Officer Gur Amanpreet Singh, Secretary RTA Sukhvinder Kumar, District Education Officer (S) Himmat singh Hundal, Senior Deputy Mayor Rishab Jain, Executing District Sports Officer Surjit Singh and other participants performed Yogas exercises as per directions of Ayurvedic Medical Officer Dr. Anu Sharda.During this SP City Harvinder Singh Virk, Tehsildar Sukhpinder Kaur, Assistant Director Youth Services Rupinder Kaur and Co-ordinator Nehru Yuva Kendra Paramjit Singh were present.
