PEDA Organizes Workshop-cum-Exhibition on Energy Efficient Building Materials / Appliances

Punjab Energy Development Agency has made an effort to promote renewable energy & energy efficiency through workshop-cum-exhibition organized in PEDA Solar Passive Complex, Chandigarh.Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa, Chief Executive Officer of PEDA inaugurated the exhibition in which energy efficient building materials such as Insulation, AAC Blocks, HVAC, Glass, Lighting, Solar PV & Hot Water, Electrical Systems & Automation were displayed by various manufacturers / vendors. More than 60 vendors participated from all over India and displayed their energy efficient building materials.During the opening remarks CEO, PEDA requested to adopt clean and green energy and at the same time energy saving through energy efficient materials / appliances. He said that 30-40% energy saving can be achieved by implementing the Punjab Energy Conservation Building Code (ECBC)  in new buildings and 10-15% energy can be saved by implementing energy conservation measures in existing building. By using renewable energy systems along with energy efficiency, considerable power can be saved which will offset the new capacity addition thereby decreasing Green House Gas(GHG) emission resulting to save the environment.

He informed that PEDA welcomes all new ideas and technologies in the field of renewable energy and provides all support to the innovative new ideas and developments for crystalizing their products and services in the energy efficiency fields. He said  PEDA is facilitating all the stakeholders through organizing capacity building programs and interactive sessions through ECBC Cell created in PEDA office for implementation of Punjab ECBC. More than 1200 Private / Govt. Architects, Engineers and Builders have been sensitized about the energy efficient materials and its use for construction of Punjab ECBC complaint buildings.Mrs. Meenal Anand, Senior Project Officer of Bureau of Energy Efficiency explained the benefit of ECBC for commercial and residential buildings.Mr. MP Singh DGM, PEDA welcomed the participants and exhibitors who had displayed the energy efficient building materials in the workshops-cum-exhibition.Later, the senior representatives from GRIHA, IGBC, LEED, UGBC and GEM gave presentations for construction of Green Rating Buildings. The manufacturers and vendors of energy efficient building materials displayed and made presentations on the benefits & cost analysis of their materials as compared to other conventional materials for the construction of new buildings.
