Chief Secretary B.K Agarwal held a meeting with Dr. Ron Malka Ambassador of Israel at New Delhi today to discuss various issues related to Global Investors Meet to be held at Dharamshala in September, 2019. The Chief Secretary invited the Israel to be a partner country in the Global Investor Meet and requested the Ambassador to attend the event with a business delegation from Israel.B.K Agarwal apprised the Ambassador about the event and sought cooperation of Israel Embassy to encourage investment from leading private and public companies of Israel. He said that Himachal Pradesh is a very popular destination among Israeli tourists and each year thousands of tourists from Israel visit Dharamshala, Manali, Kasol and other areas of the state and enjoy quality time. This interaction should be taken forward and cemented in the form of business and investment partnership, he said.The Chief Secretary said that the State Government is focusing on agriculture, horticulture and food processing, tourism, healthcare and wellness centres, urban development and housing, IT & electronics and pharmaceuticals sectors for Himachal Pradesh-Israel investment.The Ambassador informed that Israel Embassy is in touch with Invest India who were organizing a road show in Israel in the month of September, 2019.The Ambassador said that Israel was looking forward to the Israel-Himachal Pradesh partnership and proposed to meet the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh to share Israel’s expertise in the field of “water, precision agriculture (including use of drones and satellites)”. This meeting may be followed by setting up of Working Groups in priority areas of cooperation, the Ambassador said.Principal Resident Commissioner HP at New Delhi Sanjay Kundu, Deputy Director CII Manish Kumar accompanied the Chief Secretary whereas Counsellor, Head of Economic & Trade Mission, Israel Mr. Barak Granot and First Secretary, Political Affairs, Israel Embassy Mr. Adva Vilchinski, represented Israel Embassy during the meeting.
