After working on war foot basis, Mechanical division Shopian/Pulwama completed snow clearance on Mughal Road upto Pir Ki Gali however Poonch side is yet to be completed.Deputy Commissioner Shopian Dr Owais Ahmed while announcing that snow from road which comes under his jurisdiction has been cleared, lauds the efforts of officials of mechanical engineering department for clear the snow in record time.He said that despite a record snow fall since November of last year, the officials made full use of machinery and make road able to ply. He added that there were continuous avalanches, shooting stones in the region but in spite of that the officials worked from dawn to dusk.Dr Owais Ahmed, Deputy Commissioner was himself monitoring the snow clearance process and often visit the road to take stock of road and arrangements for the employees and officials. He said that at several places of road there were more than 30 feet of snow accumulated on which made job tough for the employees. Deputy Commissioner further said that Mughal Road is acting an alternate lifeline to the valley and besides bringing the two regions near it also helped people to flourish their business and culture. People of the area demand that the Poonch side should also be cleared soon so that people of both the regions could restated the business and trade. They while appreciating the efforts made by District Administration also said that Poonch Administration should act accordingly and the road should be made for free movement of vehicles within days.
