DGP Dinkar Gupta inaugurates Women Artists’ Exhibition

Kavita Mehrotra’s painting ‘Exist of Life’ wins award

Punjab Director General of Police, Dinkar Gupta today inaugurated 8th All-India Women Artists’ Contemporary Art Exhibition here at the Galleries of Fine Arts Museum, Panjab University, Chandigarh.  Addressing the participants DGP said art is an expression of women‘s empowerment. Lauding the efforts of organisers to showcase the work of women painters he expressed that women are equally powerful and talented as men in every sphere of life. On the occasion he also gave away the awards to the winners in different categories. In professional category Kavita Mehrotra from Lukhnow, Uttar Pradesh was awarded with cash prize of Rs 50,000/- for her painting ‘Exist of Life’, and Neha Jaiswal from Allahabad, UP for Paturkar ‘Campanion' with Rs 45,000. In the same category, Preeti Dhaniya from Panchkula was honoured for ‘Bounded Precious Time’ with Rs 40,000 and Varsha Mithun Niranjan from Solapur, Maharashtra for ‘Good Morning’ with cash award of Rs 35,000.In the students category Arati Maurya for her painting ‘Qurisity-3' and
Reetu (both from Khairaghar, Chattisgarh) for ‘Emergence' were awarded with cash prizes of Rs. 25,000 each.In the same category, Agomoni Sen from Ranchi, Jharkhand for her creation ‘Inward Looking’ and Priya Sisodiya from Hyderabad, Telangana for ‘3 Generations’ with cash prizes of Rs 20,000 each.
