Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s pitch where he accused the Opposition Congress of being a sympathiser of Pakistan, portraying the country as India’s enemy, has backfired on Wednesday after his Pakistani counterpart Imran Khan said that he wanted the BJP to win the 2019 Lok Sabha elections as there would be more chances to resolve the Kashmir issue under the right-wing party's government. The statement of the Pakistani prime minister in favour of the BJP has given enough ammo to the Opposition parties led by the Congress.Reacting to the Pakistani premier’s remarks, Randeep Singh Surjewala, chief spokesperson of the Congress, said that the statement of Khan had exposed Pakistan’s love for Prime Minister Modi.“Pak has officially allied with Modi! ‘A vote for Modi is a vote for Pakistan’, says Pak PM Imran Khan. Modiji, first affection with Nawaz Sharif and now Imran Khan has become your loving friend. He has called your bluff,” Surjewala tweeted.Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah, who was attacked by Modi for his separate PM for Kashmir remarks, also took a dig at the prime minister and said, "So much for Modi Sahib telling the country only Pakistan and its sympathisers want BJP to lose. Imran Khan has just endorsed him for a 2nd term.
"BJP’s former ally and PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti went a step ahead and trolled the party over Imran Khan’s remarks. She said, "Bhakts scratching their heads & at wit ends wondering if they should praise Imran Khan or not."Mehbooba Mufti Bhakts scratching their heads & at wit ends wondering if they should praise Imran Khan or not. Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan said he thinks there may be a better chance of peace talks with India if Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) wins the general election due to begin there on ThursdayIf there is one thing Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been slamming the Congress during his election rallies for 2019 Lok Sabha polls, it is the alleged support the Grand Old Party gets in Pakistan. The prime minister even said that the manifesto of the Congress party stands more for Pakistan than for India. However, Pakistani counterpart Imran Khan thinks the other way and actually wanted Modi-led saffron party to return to power. In an interview with a group of foreign journalists, the Pakistani prime minister said, “Perhaps if the BJP - a right-wing party - wins, some kind of settlement in Kashmir could be reached.” (PTK)
