Bureau, today nabbed an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) posted at police station
Bakshiwala, Patiala district red handed while accepting bribe of Rs 3,000.Disclosing this here
an official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said ASI Balbir Singh was
nabbed red handed on the complaint of Naib Subedar (retd.) Vijay Kumar of
village Choti Roni, Patiala district. The complainant has approached the VB and
alleged that the accused ASI was demanding Rs 5,000 for joining investigation
in a case after getting bail from high court. He further said that he had
already paid Rs. 2,000 as a first instalment to the accused ASI. After
verifying his information, the vigilance team laid a trap and the accused ASI
was arrested on the spot while taking bribe of Rs. 3,000 of second instalment
from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.He informed that
a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the
accused VB police station Patiala and further investigation was under progress.
