Ahead of Lok Sabha polls on April 30, security beefed up in Srinagar

With the summer capital going for the Lok Sabha polls on April 30, the security has been beefed up in entire Srinagar to avoid any untoward incident.Official sources told that after a crucial meet, the security in entire Srinagar including the volatile areas has been increased with the deployment of large number of police personnel on the streets.According to the Reports, police has placed barricades at several areas of Srinagar- checking vehicles both commercial and the private ones. A senior police official told KNS on the condition of anonymity that the security measures have been increased in several areas of Srinagar so that any untoward incident is averted and people could feel secure during the election days. Reports maintained that the police deployments have been increased in Budgam and Ganderbal areas also.A police officer told that security CCTVs have been installed on some vital and sensitive points across the city. “Sufficient security arrangements have been made to prevent any untoward incident,” said the police officer wishing not to be named. Pertinently, a Congress Sarpanch, his son and a village head were shot dead by suspected militants in south Kashmir’s Tral in different incidents on Monday. Also a PDP Sarpanch was killed in a similar attack that too in the same district on April 17.
