Appealing for wholehearted support to NC-Congress Coalition Candidates in the current Lok Sabha Elections, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and Working President of J&K National Conference, Omar Abdullah Tuesday vociferously asked the people to vote in large numbers in favor of NC-Congress Coalition Candidates stating that every single vote cast in their favour will be a vote cast for safeguarding the interests of the State and would strengthen the secular and democratic ethos of the country. He said that as opposed to that, every vote cast in the favor of PDP would be a vote cast in the favor of Narendra Modi and the BJP, and would bring him closer to the Prime Minister's Chair.While addressing an impressive election rally at Noorabad in Kulgam district of South Kashmir this afternoon, Omar Abdullah said that Parliament Elections are meant for electing the Prime Minister of the country through Parliament Members and are not elections to elect MLAs and Chief Ministers. "These Parliament Elections are about a battle between secularism and communalism", Omar said. “We have to ensure that the new Prime Minister of India is a leader who would carry all sections of the society along with him and have a secular and democratic mindset as opposed to an inpidual who harbors communal hatred and believes in religious polarization of the country”, he said adding that BJP's open nexus with BJP is PDP's clear endorsement of not only Narendra Modi but also the venomous ideology he represents and reflects. The Working President National Conference said that Assembly Elections for electing MLAs and the Chief Minister of the State will take place around November this year and at that time he will come to the people with his report card of unprecedented, historic achievements made in the State.
“I will come before you with my performance and achievements at that point in time when elections to the State Assembly will be held by the end of this year”, Omar said while enthusiastic supporters raised slogans in favor of Omar Abdullah and National Conference. He asked the people to exercise their invaluable franchise to elect a Prime Minister and Parliament Members who would represent the glorious history of communal harmony and brotherhood".
Drawing parallels between Dr. Mehboob Beg and Mehbooba Mufti, National Conference Working President said that records of the Parliament bear testimony to the performance of the two as Lok Sabha Members. He said while Dr. Mehboob Baig represented Jammu and Kashmir in the Indian Parliament with full capacity and capability, Mehbooba Mufti miserably failed to deliver and represent the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.Omar said that returning of Dr. Mehboob Baig to Parliament would translate into strengthening of the pluralistic ethos and secular democratic character of the country besides ensuring comprehensive development in the State. “Instead of this every vote caste in favour of Mehbooba Mufti will be the vote for BJP and its Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi”, he added and cautioned the people against the false propaganda being carried by vested interests to exploit and fool them.The election rally was also addresses by Minister for Social Welfare, Sakina Itoo, Provincial President National Conference, Nasir Aslam Wani, NC-Congress Coalition Candidate for Anantnag-Pulwama Seat Dr. Mehboob Beg and various senior leaders of National Conference and Congress.
