People’s Democratic Party President Mehbooba Mufti visited Tral to express solidarity with the families of Sarpanch Ghulam Nabi Mir and Nabardar Mohammad Anwar Sheikh who were killed by unidentified gunmen along with Firdous Ahmad the Son of Ghulam Nabi Mir last night in Tral .
According to a statement issued expressing solidarity with the bereaved families Mehbooba Mufti said that innocent killings had no place in a civilized society and her party strongly condemned such incidents. She expressed her deep grief at the loss of innocent lives and conveyed her heartfelt sympathies to their families. She also prayed for the eternal peace of the departed souls.
Mehbooba said the cold blooded murder of Ghulam Nabi Mir, Firdous Ahmad Mir and Mohammad Anwar last evening represents another failure of Omar Abdullah government which instead of providing an atmosphere of security is contributing to creation of scare among the people. “it was unfortunate that the government had put the lives of elected members of village bodies in jeopardy through its selfish and narrow minded policies”, She said.Mehbooba said the government having failed on all fronts has created an atmosphere of mistrust and crisis of credibility for all state institutions. The panchayats too are not able to escape that stigma and their dis-empowerment has only made the lives of panchayat members more vulnerable.She was accompanied by MLA Tral Mushtaq Ahmad Shah; Incharge youth wing Waheed ur Rehman Parra; Dr Shanti Singh, Party leader Gh Mohiudin Wani, Javaid Ahmad and many others.
