The School of Fashion Design at Lovely Professional University organized an outreach programme for its students to get complete understanding about “luxury fashion brand management” in an easy and very personalized manner. The occasion was a workshop conducted on “Luxury Fashion- Skill sets for the Future”. Director, International Luxury & Retail Trainer Management & Operations, Nouveau Manage Sourcing Gurgaon (India), Rajat Bhattacharya interacted with LPU fashion students on the topic. Mr Rajat forwarded important tips to students about how to be successful ‘Luxury Sales Ambassadors’. In this regard, the elite speaker shared his 35+ years of varied experiences, with LPU students, gained in Italy, EU, USA, SE Asia and India. The interactive sessions proved factual awakening for fashion students in understanding the very essence of “luxury” hidden in amazing creations. International fashion & apparel industry’s legendary figure, Mr Rajat informed students what in real luxury brand management is.  He shared that the primary focus here is to continue creating memorable experiences. Such fashion students should possess innovation and creativity along with the skills in media, product design, brand experience, and service development. He/she must have marketing and business skills to manage luxury brands, and also hone the managerial soft skills and professionalism. Mr Rajat also made students know about world’s best luxury brands, their positioning and upholding through ages. In fact, right from market segmentation to winning strategies, every aspect of luxury fashion was touched and explored by him.

While explaining about the top tasks of a luxury brand manager, Mr Rajat shared that these include attracting and retaining consumers and improving the practical management of the brand. They should also be able to learn how they can detect weaker products in a particular collection. Worth mentioning, along with his sourcing strength, Mr Rajat has already established joint ventures for luxury brands such as Lacoste, La Perla and Corneliani. Mr Rajat also produced shirts in his own factory for top European Luxury brands including Armani, Cerruti 1881, Cacharel, Tussardi, Lacoste, Boggi for over a decade. He also revolutionized the apparel education industry in Bangladesh and other countries by setting up delegated Centre of Nottingham Trent University.Prior to this, LPU Dean Dr Bhaskar Mitra welcomed the resourceful guest and informed that the international expertise of Mr Bhattacharya will be taken into consideration in devising out the course-work for Luxury Brand Management programme at LPU. With myriad international brands expanding their base in India; Dean Mitra anticipates that in near future Indian ‘Luxury Products & Services Segment’ will require great manpower (to the count of near 5.6 million heads). So, LPU has planning to launch certificate programs on ‘Luxury Retail’, where students and professionals from any background can learn and have dream jobs in the area. Division of Human Resource Development at LPU had collaborated for the smooth conduction of the workshop.
